History: The Mexican National League was set up by Organized Baseball to try to thwart Jorge Pascual's outlaw Mexican League, which was trying to entice major league players with higher salaries. Although the league withdrew from OB in late May, there was an 11-game post-season series played between The Juarez Indios and the Chihuahua Dorados, won by Juarez. El Paso was the sole U.S. entry in the league.

History: The Black Panthers were a team of African-American players from the Deep South who joined the Quebec Provincial League in 1936. The Provincial League was in and out of organized baseball over the years, and when it operated as an outlaw league Black players were able to participate. Officially-sanctioned minor leagues were still strictly segregated.
